What is the story of your brand and how would you like it to evolve
My creative work began as a set & costume designer for theatre, film & television and it wasn’t until much later, a love of nature inspired me to become a florist. Anamundi was born out of a marriage of these two loves and a passion to connect nature, culture & community. Anamundi as a brand has evolved a great deal in the last 12 months from floristry & styling to an emphasis on experiential events, workshops and other nature-based arts experiences. I would love to see it keep evolving and expanding along with its community, towards larger and more creative experiences that continue to merge theatrical design with opportunities for connection and civic conversation. My intention is to curate spaces and experiences that allows people to experience art and nature in an immersive way and that provoke conversation and connection with each other.
What inspires you and helps you get into a creative flow
I am consistently treading a delicate balance between my yin and yang mindscapes, sidestepping from the organising and logistical chatter and into the creative and artistic corners of my brain. I find stillness through meditation, daily writing, nature and morning river swims and I almost always have music playing to get me in a creative flow. I also am incredibly inspired by by social & creative conversation podcasts.
What is the message that you want to express through your product/service
The word Anamundi is an acronym of the latin phrase anima x mundi. "Anima" or "Animism" is the belief that nature and spirituality are inextricably entwined, that nature is a manifestation of the divine and is inherently alive with Spirit. "Mundi", means world or universe, and is also used to describe any north, south polar axis. It’s a universal line in which two poles meet in vertical alignment, from the earth to the heavens. Anamundi for me refers to the central axis where nature, culture & community align, the place where our shared soul or central line of humanity resides.
I believe so much of the disconnection in our society at the moment stems from both a disconnection with nature but also with shared connection and community. My intention is to reignite these connections through immersive events, workshops & experiences, often over the shared experience of food, art or music.
What does the word beauty evoke for you
Beauty for me is the appreciation of real life in all its technicolour, it’s accepting the whole tapestry of humanity in its contradictions, natural flaws, and constant ephemeral state… Nature to me captures this beauty the most gracefully, and is inspiration for a lot of what I do and how I want to be as an artist and a human.
What is a motto/quote you are living by right now
Trust the community, leap and the net will appear…
