The Art of Intention Setting
Sankalpa is the Sanskrit word for intention. San means “to become one with” and kalpa means “time” and “subconscious mind.” A short phrase or sentence, clearly and concisely expressed, using the same wording each time, to bring about a positive change in one's life.
The power of your intention has the potential to release tremendous power by clearly defining and focusing on a chosen goal. Its effect is to awaken the willpower within by uniting the conscious awareness with the unconscious forces lying dormant.
The art of intention setting is not about achieving the goal or resolution. The process and the direction of focus is. We set our resolve but let go of our attachment to when, how and if it happens. We aren't setting our resolve from a place of lack, force or frustration. We surrender to the unfolding of life. We allow the focus of our intention to subtly guide us.
HOW TO SET YOUR INTENTION:
1. Before waking, beginning your own ritual or practice, allow your sankalpa, your intention, your heart’s desire, to arise.
2. Repeat it silently three times to yourself.
You may want to take a moment to visualize it and feel its energy.
3. Mindfully, slowly, with grace and intention, make the transition into your day.
